Volenti Football Academy

Our football provider, Volenti Academy, offers an elite training and games football programme for our sixth-form student-athletes. 

Volenti Academy is an independent football provider that uses the experience of coaches from the professional game to provide a unique two-year development programme. The programme aims to replicate the training programme of a professional academy by including technical training, game-based sessions, strength and conditioning programmes, and match analysis. 
The timetable at the school is specially designed to ensure that student-athletes can participate in the training and games programme while also having enough time to complete their chosen academic pathway.

We are the only programme in South London that offers players the opportunity to participate in the premier division of the National Football Youth League (NFYL), which is considered the best league outside of Academy football and the English School Football Association (ESFA) Super League competition. 

Over the past two years, 40 student-athletes from Coombe Wood have had the opportunity to travel to destinations across Europe on fully-funded placements as part of the government's Turing Scheme. Students have visited destinations in Spain and Cyprus to learn about the football industry and local cultures. Students have worked with local coaches, played against local opposition and completed study programmes. 

The focus of the programme is to provide positive destinations for our students at the end of their time at Coombe Wood School. Our alumni include students who have moved into the professional game, achieved scholarships in the USA, as well as a large percentage of students have gone on to take up places at top UK universities.
